Willingdon Heights United Church
a congregation of
The United Church of Canada
in the
Pacific Mountain Regional Council
Our Mission
We aspire to become an intercultural faith community
that seeks inclusion, compassion, and justice,
grounded in Christian faith.
Being part of the United Church of Canada,
we aspire to be open, embracing,
and warmly welcoming all people,
regardless of their racial, cultural, religious,
linguistic, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
We hope to be a true West Coast church,
reflecting the diversity of the vibrant communities
in the Burnaby area,
celebrating and respecting
the unique diversity each individual brings.
We are a vibrant congregation with a rich tapestry of backgrounds, embracing diversity that includes individuals of European descent, Filipinos, Koreans, Chinese, members from various other nationalities, as well as individuals from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, reflecting the mosaic of our community. Our primary language of service is English, providing a unifying platform for our worship and communication.
As the words of an old hymn remind us,
"In Christ, there is no east or west,
In him, no south or north,
But one great fellowship of love
Throughout the whole wide earth."
(Voice United 606, "In Christ There Is No East or West")
We firmly believe that there are no divisions based on geography or ethnicity; rather, we are all united as children of God.
Our mission is to share the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, pastoral care, outreach, community service, and wise stewardship of people and resources.
To fulfill this mission, we offer the following activities and programs:
- Sunday morning Kids School program (commonly known as Sunday School)
- "Rainbow Singers" Intercultural Praise Team
- Fellowship Time after worship
- Monthly Birthday Celebrations
- Intergenerational Worship
- Saturday ESL (English as a Second Language) Class
- Korean Bible Study
- Hot Soup and Bread during fellowship Time
We invite you to come and see the beauty of our collective worship and experience how we, as a community, live out our faith together.
