Call to Worship

As sure as the sun rises and sets,

so constant is your love for us, O God.

As sure as the season changes, fall into winter, winter into spring,

so dependable is your mercy, O God.

God’s love is steadfast and God’s mercy endures forever.

Let us worship our God with joyful, thankful hearts

and faithful actions today and tomorrow.

(Jean Leckie, gathering LE, 2018)

Opening Prayer

* Opening Hymn: VU 333    Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

Confession of Faith “New Creed” (UCC, 1968)

We are not alone, we live in God’s world.

We believe in God:

who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,

to live with respect in Creation,

to love and serve others,

to seek justice and resist evil,

to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,

our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,

God is with us.
We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.

Offering Prayer

Prayers of the People

The Prayer of Jesus

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil:

for thine is the kingdom and the power

and the glory, forever and ever.

Sending Forth

* Closing Hymn: VU 477    I Come with Joy

Commissioning & Blessing

Let us go and dare.

We go to dare to follow where Jesus leads:

into the margins and into new relationships.

Let us go and listen.

We go to listen for surprising voices,

found in unexpected places and in ties of wonder.

Let us go and love.

We go to love ourselves by God’s gracious blessing,

loving others with the same open gaze.

(Robin Wardlaw, gathering LE, 2018)

* Response: MV 224    May the God of Peace (music from www.morevoices.ca)
